In the AE86 Corolla Levin which made its debut in March of 1983, the FR layout was adopted, although the FF layout was common in those days. For the power unit, the newly developed twin cam 16 valve engine 4A-G was adopted in place of the 2T-G engine used in its predecessors. Corrola Levin as well as its brother car the Sprinter Trueno had two body styles: 3-door hatchback and 2-door coupe. The different model names were assigned depending on the engine mounted. AE86 was assigned to cars with 4A-G engines and AE85 was assigned to cars with 1500 cc 3A-U engines. In 1985, minor changed were made to the shaped of front and rear bumpers, rear combination light and interior color. This model kit reproduces the "Hachiroku" style which used to be popular, based on the later version of the model, with the genuine optional parts such as aluminum wheels manufactured by intra, mud flap, side step and rear spoiler attached.
Parts come molded in white, clear, black, grey, chrome-plated, clear-orange, and clear-red.
