Blood & Gore Effects: The Advanced Made Easy
Saturday, October 17, 2026 @ 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
$60 per student - Maximum 24 students
Learn how to transform simply painted miniatures with convincing blood, splatter, organic effects, and battlefield damage in this two-hour, hands-on miniature-painting class.
Led by miniature-painting artist and instructor Adrian Pech of WarGlamour Miniatures, Blood & Gore Effects: The Advanced Made Easy is designed to make dramatic finishing techniques approachable and repeatable. Adrian previously taught this class to 90 registered students at AdeptiCon 2026 and is now bringing it to Torchlight Games & Hobbies.
All Skill Levels Are Welcome
Picking up a paintbrush for the first time? No problem. Never painted a miniature model before? No problem.
No previous painting experience is required. Adrian will guide students through each technique step by step, making the class approachable for complete beginners while still offering useful techniques for experienced painters.
The class begins with approximately 30 minutes of instruction exploring how blood and related effects behave across different materials, surfaces, and environments. Understanding these fundamentals will help students create effects that look convincing, complement the miniature, and contribute to its story.
The remaining 90 minutes will be dedicated to guided, hands-on practice. Students will experiment with a variety of paints and effects while working on two provided StarCraft Zergling miniatures.
Topics Include
- Creating convincing blood and organic effects
- Producing splatter and battlefield-damage effects
- Working with different colours, consistencies, and finishes
- Placing effects intentionally to enhance a miniature
- Avoiding flat or overly uniform results
- Combining products and techniques to create greater depth

All paints, tools, and materials required to participate will be provided during the class, including:
- Two assembled and prepared StarCraft Zergling miniatures
- Paints and special-effect products

Students do not need to bring anything. Participants may bring one of their own painted miniatures if they would like to practise on it, but this is completely optional.

All paints, tools, and hobby products demonstrated during the workshop will be available to purchase afterward in Torchlight’s retail shop, making it easy to continue practising these techniques at home.
