All Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game 2nd Edition manuals published before 7/18/2026, along with any Games Workshop FAQs and Erratas are in play. Legacy is in play.
Terrain Rules:
- The TO will set up all terrain before the event begin.
- Players may not move or alter the terrain without confirmation from the TO.
- Any water features in play, unless otherwise noted, are considered Shallow Water.
- Both players should agree on any terrain features before the game begins, or ask the TO to designate what terrain is what.
Proxies and Conversions: Third party models are allowable, as long as they accurately represent the model they are taking the place of, in terms of both stature and wargear. WYSIWYG (“What you see is what you get”) is advised, but not enforced, as long as everything is clear to your opponents.
Painting Requirements: Models do not have to be fully painted or based, however fully painted or based armies will receive one bonus tournament point (added at end of event). New players (participated in less than 3 OSBGL events) receive the bonus point even if not fully painted or based, but are encouraged to be.
Time Limit: Each round will be 1 hour 45 minutes. Pairings will be announced as soon as they are available, and players may deploy before the timer starts, however the timer will start regardless of if deployment has finished. If you complete deployment before the timer starts, do not start your game until the timer is started. 10 minutes before the end of each tourney round, “last round” will be called. During this period, do not start another game round. At 10 minutes overtime, dice down will be called.
Scoring: Players will be scored based on the Middle-Earth: Strategy Battle Game Matched Play Major/Minor Victories scoring system. If there is an odd number of players, the TO will participate as a bottom table ringer.
Army Composition: Players must bring one 599 point force, with normal list building rules.
Scenarios: Each round will feature two scenarios randomly chosen amongst 24, disclosed day of. A random player will be selected to roll a 50/50 on which of the two are played that round (all tables playing the same scenario)..
Awards: First Place, Second Place, Third Place, Best Painted, Best Display Board, Wooden Spoon (Last place). additional Raffle Awards may be given depending on the number of players.
Army Parade: All players who wish to be included in the voting for the Best Painted Army must display their army with their name during the lunch break. Players must submit their vote by the end of Lunch.
OSBGL: This is an OSBGL 90 point event.
