Do all your weathering effects eventually become mud, followed by even more mud?

Learn how to create convincing rust, scratches, paint chipping, grime, wear, and battle damage in this two-hour, hands-on miniature-painting class led by Adrian Pech of WarGlamour Miniatures.

Rather than applying random marks to a model, students will learn how to place weathering intentionally so that it enhances realism and helps tell the story of the miniature.

All Skill Levels Are Welcome

Picking up a paintbrush for the first time? No problem. Never painted a miniature model before? No problem.

No previous painting experience is required. Adrian will demonstrate each technique step by step, making the class welcoming to complete beginners while providing valuable techniques for more experienced painters.

The class begins with approximately 30 minutes of instruction exploring how exposure, use, damage, and environmental conditions affect different materials and surfaces.

The remaining 90 minutes will be dedicated to guided, hands-on practice. Each student will work on a prepared StarCraft Terran Marine equipped with a shield, providing plenty of surface area for experimenting with layered weathering and damage effects.

• Rust and corrosion
• Scratches and surface wear
• Chipped and damaged paint
• Grime and environmental staining
• Battle damage
• Building believable layers of age and use
• Choosing where weathering should appear on a model

Everything Is Provided

All paints, tools, and materials required to participate will be provided during the class, including:

• One assembled and prepared StarCraft Terran Marine miniature
• Paints and weathering products
• Brushes
• Wet palettes
• Desk lamps
• Hobby holders
• Water cups

Students do not need to bring anything. Participants may bring one of their own painted miniatures if they would like to practise on it, but this is completely optional.

Each participant will take home the StarCraft Terran Marine used during the class.

All paints, tools, and hobby products demonstrated during the workshop will be available to purchase afterward in Torchlight’s retail shop, making it easy to continue practising these techniques at home.

Attend both classes to explore blood and organic effects in the morning, followed by rust, chipping, grime, wear, and battle damage in the afternoon. You’ll take home two StarCraft Zerglings and one StarCraft Terran Marine.

Meet Your Instructor

Adrian Pech is a miniature-painting artist, experienced instructor, and the creator behind WarGlamour Miniatures. He has taught painting workshops at major hobby events and retailers, including presenting his Blood & Gore class to 90 registered students at AdeptiCon 2026.

Adrian has collaborated with leading hobby brands, including AK Interactive and Vallejo, to develop approachable classes that combine clear instruction with plenty of hands-on practice. His teaching style welcomes complete beginners while helping experienced painters expand their skills, experiment with new products, and add greater realism and storytelling to their miniatures.
